Turtle season is May 1 to October 31

Through July 24, 2026 we have had 120 nests and 103 false crawls on Daufuskie.

Turn out your lights at night ......... Mama needs to find her way home ....................

If you see a sea turtle or manatee, you can report the sighting directly to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources using your phone.

If you see a turtle in distress or a nest that appears to have been disturbed by predators, or turtle tracks on the beach that appear undisturbed, please contact Nancy Owens at (843) 298-1395 or Monica Ferguson at (843) 298-6664 immediately! Do not, under any circumstances, approach a turtle!

Understand that sea turtles are Federally protected, and harming, harassing or interfering with them or their nests can result in fines and/or imprisonment. Please help us help these wonderful animals by not letting your children, guests, neighbors or even your in-laws violate these principles.
